Evelyne and Emile Porhiel have owned the Camping de Locouran for two generations. Accredited with the “Camping qualité” label, this is a countryside campsite which still has a seaside feel as the coast is only 1.5km away.
800 metres from here, the Laïta river meanders along quietly, a far cry from the crashing ocean. Among the nearby sights to see is the Abbaye de Saint Maurice, which lies on the edge of Carnoët National Forest, home to wild mushrooms and forest fruits. Every summer, the town organises a series of talks; the last one was on bats. Also nearby is the former residence of Gaugin, which welcomes visitors who want to discover some of the secrets of this famous artist’s life.
In the port of Doëlan, you’ll find a boat which runs trips to the Ile of Groix. The campsite has a heated swimming pool and there is a restaurant next door, Le Relais des Peintres.
